The Basic stance is illustrated by the 2 pictures above. The Stances are very well but not for everyone. The feet are a comfortable distance apart  with the feet aiming approximately 35 to 40 degrees this stance allows the body to turn just right for the cue.

The Basic Stroke depends on your ability to be consistent. a good sold bridge and a proper cue placement. So the forward arm is almost locked into place and the back arm is directly in line with the cue, the wrist is directly on top of cue , then elbow and shoulder are also on top of the cue,
